Highway 6 blockade in Caledonia remains up

A portion of highway 6 in Caledonia remains blocked today as a result of a solidarity demonstration with the heredity chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en Nation.
On Monday, Highway 6 became closed when Wet’suwet’en supporters stacked wooden pallets there to make a barricade between Argyle St. South and Greens Rd. near Six Nations.
Organizers of the blockade say it will remain there until the RCMP withdraw from Wet’suwet’en territory in B.C.
The Wet’suwet’en heredity chiefs are protesting the construction of a natural gas pipeline through their territory.
CHCH will have an update on this story during the 6 p.m. newscast.
