Highway 403 collision involving 8 vehicles sends 6 to hospital

Police are investigating an eight-vehicle collision on the westbound ramp at Highway 403 and Upper Middle Rd. in Oakville, which sent six people to hospital Monday morning.

In a tweet, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a school bus, commercial vacuum truck, and other passenger vehicles were involved in the crash.

The cause of the collision is still not determined, but Schmidt says the crash could have been far more serious.

Police say the ramp to Upper Middle Rd. has been closed but lanes to access Highway 403 remain open with some delays.

The ramp will be closed for some time on Monday for clean up.
