Health dept closes controversial burger shack

A Native burger shack on provincial land south of Caledonia could re-open as soon as tomorrow after it was ordered shut by the health department.

That word from the operator of a nearby smoke shop, even though it doesn’t appear that much has been done to bring the stand up to provincial health standards. The recently opened burger stand stopped serving food a week after Haldimand-Norfolk health officials said it had failed to fix problems like the need for a proper handwashing station for employees.

The health unit says it now has an injunction to keep the stand closed until the problems are solved.
