Health Canada investigating Banana Boat products amid mounting burn complaints

Health Canada is conducting its own testing of Banana Boat sunscreen amid increasing complaints about the company’s products.
A woman in Victoria, BC says her 12-year-old son was left with severe blisters after wearing Banana Boat sunscreen on a school trip to a beach in the city.
Patrizia Fitch told The Canadian Press that her son Daniel applied the sunscreen four times and the blisters kept getting worse.
Fitch says she reported the injuries to Health Canada.
Renelle Briand, a spokesperson for the government agency, says they have reviewed test results provided by the company and have not found any problems. She says they will now conduct their own testing.
The number of complaints about the company’s products has increased to 139 in the past two months.
In May, three mothers complained that their babies suffered burn injuries after using Banana Boat sunscreen.
Banana Boat Canada has previously said that its products are safe and have been approved by Health Canada.
