Health Canada authorized Moderna’s new COVID-19 booster vaccine Thursday.

The bivalent vaccine targets both the original strain of the novel coronavirus and the Omicron variant.

Moderna’s bivalent vaccine was approved two weeks ago in the United Kingdom, while the United States approved Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech’s Omicron-fighting shots earlier this week.

Health officials are also set to make an announcement Thursday on the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
