Hamilton’s Trocadero hoping to reopen before Christmas

A landmark Hamilton restaurant hopes to reopen before Christmas after a fire.

The blaze at the Trocadero Tavern on Barton at Sanford started around 4 yesterday afternoon. According to the restaurant’s owner, Lois Pantalone, lights hanging on the restaurant’s canopy started the fire.

There was about $20,000 of damage to the tavern, and the apartment on the second floor. No one was hurt, and the tenant was able to find her missing cat.

The Trocadero, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, is only open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Pantalone says she will be evaluating the damage today, and will try to determine when her business can reopen.
