Hamilton’s public school board lays out plans for a staggered start to the year
The Hamilton Wentworth District School Board has approved a staggered start for elementary and secondary school students this fall.
Students will be divided into two groups, depending on their last name. Those two groups will start the year on different days.
Sept. 8 & 9 is reserved for students with special needs
Sept. 10 & 14: Group A (A-K)
Sept. 11 & 15: Group B (L-Z)
Sept. 16: all students return to school
The board also unanimously passed a motion supporting a plan for more staff and classrooms to reduce class sizes in kindergarten and grades 4 to 8.
