A 16 year old from Hamilton has been arrested following a stabbing overnight.

Police were called to Barton Street East and Lottridge Street shortly after 3 am this morning. When they arrived they found a man had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The suspect fled but was found by police and the canine unit in the area of Ruth Street and Case Street.

He has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
