Hamilton woman faces firearm and assault charges after police seize loaded gun

A 25-year-old Hamilton woman is facing multiple charges including assault with a weapon after a dispute at a local business escalated into violence.
Police were called to a disturbance in the area around Main Street East and Wentworth Street Wednesday morning around 9:15 a.m. to find that a woman was struck in the face with the butt of a shotgun.
The woman sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Officers found the suspect attempting to leave the scene in a taxi. Upon investigation, police recovered a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the car.

The un-named suspect is now facing charges that include unauthorized possession of a firearm and assault with a weapon, and several narcotics charges.
