Hamilton woman, 44, charged in string of robberies

A 44-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after a string of robberies in Hamilton.

The first incident happened on March 14 at Tony’s Corner on Queenston Rd. Police say a person walked into the restaurant armed with a handgun and stole some cash.

Two days later, an armed suspect attempted to rob the CIBC bank on Greenhill Ave.

On March 17, police say a masked person walked into Peters Variety at 345 Queenston Rd. The victim recognized the person as the suspect in the Tony’s Corner robbery and called police. The thief managed to steal some merchandise before fleeing on foot.

Last Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the east end. Police say they located a firearm believed to have been used in the robberies.

Chastity Beals was arrested and is facing several theft related charges including two counts of robbery with a firearm.
