Our women’s national soccer team moves into Tim Horton’s field to take on Germany

On Sunday Tim Horton’s field will be packed with cheering fans for team Canada. Canadian women’s soccer team are up against the second ranked team in the world, Germany. They were last here in Hamilton playing England in 2015.
Diana Matheson grew up playing for the Oakville soccer club and is excited to play near home this weekend. “It’s always extra special when you’re home around the GTA and I can get the cousins and friends and a whole section in the crowd”.
There has been a recent settlement involving the construction of the stadium. The lawsuit involved the city of Hamilton and the Tiger Cats, but the renovations are complete and the field is ready for use.
Sunday’s game is important for this team as they are approaching world cup qualifiers in October. The FIFA women’s world cup will be next year in France. Game begins at 2:00 pm.
