It was an intense scene in Burlington on Wednesday as Halton Police descended on a neighbourhood to search for a man who was possibly armed with a handgun.

It happened around 1 o’clock in the Orchard Community by Appleby Line and Upper Middle Road.

Schools in the area with summer programs were told to stay inside as officers and the K9 Unit combed through the streets looking for a man by the name of “Frank”.

What CHCH has learned is that this is actually a Hamilton Police investigation with the human trafficking, vice and drug unit.

According to the Staff Sergeant in Hamilton an investigation was launched earlier this week.

They tracked down the man’s car to Staybridge Suites Hotel on Wyecroft Road in Oakville and attempted to arrest him Wednesday morning.

The man escaped running to Burlington. Some people were nervous to walk home learning about the news.

Police aren’t sure if “Frank” is the man’s real name, it could be an alias but he is described as a black, 26 years old with a slim build, corn-row hair and has a prominent scar above his eyes.

He’s wanted on a number of charges including human trafficking, advertising sexual services, aggravated assault and dangerous driving.

Hamilton Police are asking the public for their assistance. They also want to thank Halton Officers for their work which led them to additional evidence for their case. Police won’t say what was found at the sight.
