Hamilton unveils waterfront overhaul plan
The city of Hamilton is getting close to another major revitalization project – this one focused on the city’s harbour.
One city councillor calls this part of the renaissance of Hamilton. The city presented a report this morning on some major changes planned for the Bayfront Park-West Harbour area.
The plan calls for a new $5 million breakwater in the harbour, then another $16 million for work on the shoreline. It’s part of the city’s overall development plan. When it’s completed, it could lead to new commercial and residential developments, along with recreational facilities and improvements to the Bayfront trail.
Along with other projects in central Hamilton, the work is hoped to bring new development to the city, and make the harbour a healthier place for fish.
