Hamilton to enforce smoking ban
Hamilton will be enforcing its smoking ban in city parks, recreation areas, and festivals by starting to issue tickets this spring.
The city says it has spent the past year educating people about the new bylaw, and now it’s time to put it into action.
Smokers will receive a warning, but if they refuse to follow the new law they’ll face a $250 fine.
Since last May, the city has received 48 complaints about people smoking in parks and issued 300 warnings.
Burlington is now also considering a smoking ban bylaw for its parks and festivals.
