The extra chilly temperatures today are a perfect fit for fine bowl of soup. Luckily for hungry Hamiltonians, annual Soupfest is not far away.

The event benefits Living Rock Ministries, which supports youth at risk of falling through the cracks of the community. Program director Karen Craig joined CHCH’s Matt Hayes earlier to tell us more about the great work that’s made possible by the savoury soup.

“It really makes a difference to us to be able to offer the coaching with the youth and to have the work crews, the after-breakfast program; we have a full breakfast program from Monday to Friday. The youth go right into work crews and we have a work-to-earn model.”

“Youth are working to be able to buy things they need.Tthat’s really important and with the coaching support youth are getting work, going back to school or be able to and the crisis support when tackling issues like suicide prevention.

The hot pots get steaming on February 24th at the Hamilton Convention Centre.
