Hamilton solar project cancelled

Plans for a solar farm in north Flamborough have officially been cancelled after the project didn’t get support from Hamilton city council.

A spokesperson for the Mountsberg solar project confirmed over the weekend that a bid won’t be going forward to produce power at the site.

City support, while not necessary, would have helped as not all of the solar proposals this year will get contracts.  Local support raises the chances a bid will be accepted.

Opponents of the proposed facility said it would take valuable farmland out of production for decades.
