Hamilton senior charged with threatening flyer delivery man

A 71-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a man who was delivering flyers in his neighbourhood.
It happened in the area of Highridge Ave. on Monday afternoon.
A man was delivering flyers with his brother and nephew when he was approached by the senior.
Police say the senior was upset because the flyers were delivered a day late. They say the incident escalated and the senior allegedly pointed a knife and stick at the delivery man before threatening he’d get a shotgun and kill him and his family.
Officers were called to the scene and removed a long-arm gun from the man’s home and seized his firearm license.
The 71-year-old was arrested and charged with three counts of uttering threats.
He is scheduled to appear in a Hamilton courtroom at a later date.
