Hamilton resident killed in Florida

Members of the Ancaster Christian Reformed Church are dealing with the third death in their congregation in the last nine months.
Tuesday night members were mourning the loss of 72-year old Wilhemina Paul was killed in a tragic incident at the Florida Trailer Park where she and her husband spend the winter. She`s one of three people who died over the weekend when the woman driving a large white Chevy SUV backed over a group of friends catching up after Sunday morning`s church service. The vehicle did not stop and wound up partially submerged in a creek.
Jan Verstveg was a witness: “I guess she didn’t put it in forward, in drive and she stepped on the gas and she went the same way.”
Pastor Rita Klein-Geltink is at the Ancaster Christian Reformed Church: “(Wilhemina) was a wonderful outgoing person, who had many friends, some of them very close. After the service, many people came up to me and told me what an important part she played in their lives.”
The church pastor says a service for Willi will likely be held next Wednesday. But she says there are still some details being worked out. The other victims were from Port Lambton and the Netherlands. Five other people were injured in Sunday’s tragedy at the Sugar Creek Country Club. Willi’s death comes after Eric Kipper’s deadly crash in September, and Tim Bosma’s murder last May.
