Hamilton reports 41 new cases of COVID-19, SpinCo outbreak now at 39 cases

Hamilton reported 41 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and is currently dealing with three outbreaks.

An outbreak was declared at SpinCo Hamilton on Oct. 5.

Since then, 37 patrons and two staff members have tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, at least nine other people have been impacted through household spread.

Outbreaks have also been declared at Salvation Army Lawson Ministries Assisted Living and Dundurn Place Care Centre – 4th floors with each reporting one staff case.

Hospitalizations in Hamilton remain low, with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton reporting no COVID-19 patients in hospital.

Hamilton Health Sciences says it has fewer than five patients.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 1 new case, 7 active cases

Brant: 0 new cases, 9 active cases

Niagara: 16 new cases, 116 active cases

Hamilton: 41 new cases, 183 active cases

Halton: 18 new, 224 active cases as of Sunday

 

Ontario is not reporting COVID-19 data on Monday because of the holiday.

The province says Monday’s numbers will be posted alongside Tuesday’s 10:30 a.m. provincial update.

On Sunday, the province reported 649 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death.
