Hamilton remembers the Holocaust

Sunday marked Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the beginning of a series of events throughout the Golden Horseshoe to recognize one of the darkest times in world history.

Jews around the world paused to examine the roots of prejudice, intolerance and hate and to celebrate the history of Jewish survival.

Led by Adolf Hitler, the state sponsored extermination of Jews in German-occupied territory during World War II claimed more than six million lives.

Hamilton rabbi Chanoch Rosenfeld says, “It’s always important to remember the past, so we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past. But…the main focus has to be ahead, the future.”

The Jewish fraternity Hamilton AEPi has organized a Walk to Remember starting at 5 Monday at Mill Plaza.
