The City of Hamilton announced all city-owned properties are now stocked with Epinephrine Auto-Injectors (EAIs).

Hamilton’s recreation centres, arenas, YWCA-senior centres, and community halls have both adult EAIs and child EAIs available for public and staff use during public programs.

Signage will be posted throughout the facilities directing public and staff to where the EAIs are located.

Epinephrine is a medication used for the treatment of life-threatening allergic reactions known as anaphylaxis.

The City of Hamilton’s website lists the following directions for use of an EAI after you have removed it from the carrier tube.

Blue to the sky
Step 1: Hold firmly with orange tip pointing downward.
Step 2: Remove blue safety cap by pulling straight up. Do not bend or twist.

Orange to the thigh
Step 3: Swing and push orange tip firmly into mid-outer thigh until you hear a ‘click’.
Step 4: Hold on thigh for several seconds.
Step 5: Call 911 after using an Epinephrine Auto-Injector
