Hamilton rabbi arrested after joining cease-fire protests in Washington, D.C.

Hamilton Rabbi David Mivasair was among the hundreds of primarily Jewish protesters who occupied a U.S. government building in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, calling for an end to the violence in Gaza.
The protestors gathered there after a rally at the National Mall demanding for an immediate cease-fire.
They say congress should pressure the Israel Defense Forces (I.D.F.) to stop its bombing campaign in Gaza and allow humanitarian aid into the Palestinian controlled area.

Several people were arrested during the demonstration, including Mivasair, who has been an outspoken critic of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians for several years.
Mivasair says in a social media post that he was one of the hundreds of people seen in the crowd within the Cannon House Office Building.
He was reportedly released from jail around 4 a.m. Thursday and is now back home.
