The Hamilton Public Library is reopening its branches on Thursday.

In-library services like computer access and use of printers, Makerspace equipment, hold pickups and general browsing will resume.

The Turner Park branch will open on Aug. 4.

All branches were shut down in mid-March because of COVID-19.

“We’re moving to Phase 3 because of the collective work of people in our community. We’re excited to welcome back all Hamilton Public Library members,” said CEO/Chief Librarian Paul Takala.

Branch hours will be Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All visitors are required to have a library card to ensure COVID-19 contact tracing.

Physical distancing and increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols are in place.

People must also wear a masks as per the city’s bylaw. Free masks will be provided to those that need one.

In person programs and events are still on hold, while Bookmobile and Visiting Library Service will return in the fall.

Borrowed items should be returned to book drops where they will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in.
