Hamilton public health has ordered an extended closure at National Steel Car amid a COVID-19 outbreak.

The company voluntarily suspended operations on Apr. 23, after 18 workers in different parts of the facility tested positive for the virus.

A public health investigation found new cases among workers who stayed on the job during the shutdown and there are now 33 workers infected.

The new public health order requires a full and complete closure of manufacturing at the facility for ten days.
