Hamilton public board warns parents of possible return to remote learning

The Hamilton Wentworth District School Board is warning parents of a possible shift to remote learning amid rising cases of COVID-19.
In a message to parents, board director Manny Figueiredo is encouraging families to bring home personal belongings over the upcoming Easter long weekend.
“It is unclear if the Ministry of Education will announce a provincial order to move students and staff from in-person to remote learning. We will communicate with families if there is a change in how our students will learn,” said Figueiredo.
“Our position has always been that we want our students learning in schools if it is safe to do so and with enhanced public health measures.”
The public Hamilton board says it has been experiencing staffing challenges because of the virus.
Dr. J. E. Davey Elementary School in the lower city moved to remote learning last week, following a COVID-19 outbreak at the school.
