Hamilton Police take part in nationwide crime ring raids
Police have arrested 60 people, including 10 young offenders, in raids in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
More than 900 officers across Canada executed dozens of search warrants as part of “Project Marvel,” which kicked off early Tuesday morning.
Police say more than 20 different law enforcement organizations were trying to bring down an organized crime ring involved in drugs, guns, prostitution and other crimes.
The investigation began in response to violent activity in northwest Toronto involving two criminal gangs.
Two raids were carried out in east Hamilton, but at least one homeowner from a raided house on Roxborough Avenue in says police got the wrong address.
Police have also raided homes in Toronto, Windsor, Ottawa, Durham, York and Calgary. Close to 900 charges have been laid.
