Hamilton Police still searching for clues in Jeff Johnson homicide one year later

The Hamilton Police sent out another appeal for public assistance today, one year following the homicide of Jeff Johnson.
Johnson was shot when leaving his home on West 4th street on December 6th, 2019. Officers say he was leaving for work around 6:00 a.m. when vehicle similar to a 2016 Honda Accord Sport, or V6 Touring Model, pulled up and shot Johnson.
The Major Crime Unit Detectives have yet to determine why Johnson was killed and the vehicle remains outstanding.
Police say that Johnson’s background has been extensively investigated and a motive for his murder has not been identified. They say that makes this a unique situation and for that reason strongly consider that Johnson was the wrong target. Police say that even though the suspects did a surveillance on Johnson before firing, it is unknown whether they knew who he was.
Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in this case. They say Johnson is deeply missed by his family and that they deserve answers. Hamilton Police want the person or persons responsible for killing Jeff to be held accountable.
