Driver takes off after smashing into fire hydrant, police investigate

Hamilton police said a driver took off after crashing into a mailbox and a fire hydrant in the city’s east end.

The crash happened on Brigade Drive near Stone Church Road East around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Bark from a tree was torn off during the crash and a fence on the property was knocked down. There are also tire marks on the road that show where the car left the road and drove onto the lawn.

Hamilton Police are still trying to locate the driver of the vehicle.
