There was a heavy police presence on Wellington Street in Hamilton Wednesday afternoon. Residents were told to stay in their homes.

A tactical unit went into a home with guns drawn just after 4:30 p.m. There had been reports of someone being shot and that officers would be shot if they responded. Police deployed an armoured vehicle and the canine unit was called in.

Wellington was closed from Cannon to Barton for about an hour. After a search of the residence, no gun or person of interest was found.
