Ontario Fire Marshal called to investigate series of overnight fires

Hamilton police responded to three separate overnight fires they believe to be connected.

“The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to investigate,” said Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Brad Adams for the city’s East end. “We are holding the scenes and the investigation continues.”

The first call came in around 1 a.m. for a dumpster fire in an alley which spread to a nearby detached garage in the neighbourhood of Barton Street East and Balmoral Avenue North.

Shortly after, police responded to a boat fire and a truck fire.

“All the fires happened within an hour of each other,” said Adams. “They were less than one kilometer apart.”

Adams added the cause of the fire will be determined by the Ontario Fire Marshal.
