Hamilton Police investigating after man shot in his car last night

A 19-year-old man is in hospital after being shot in Hamilton’s East End last night.

The victim was sitting in his car around 11:30 p.m. outside his home in the area of Roxborough Avenue and Reid Avenue when he was shot. Police say he was able to drive away a few blocks before calling 9-1-1. He was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police believe that the shooting was targeted. They are asking anyone in the area to check video surveillance that may help in the investigation. They say the victim is co-operating.

This area has seen gun violence in the past. In 2019 there were at least four shootings, one near Roxborough Avenue and Parkdale, another on Reid Avenue, and two on Oriole Crescent. This year there have been two separate shootings in the area as well.
