Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help after a man was spotted looking into a woman’s bedroom window Sunday night.

Police say a man was seen peering into the bedroom window of a home on East 35th St. in Hamilton around 11:30 p.m. They say a woman in her twenties was awake in the bedroom but did not notice the suspect.

A passerby noticed the man standing at the window and confronted him. The Good Samaritan tried to restrain the man until police arrived but after a short struggle, the prowler was able to break free and run away.

Officers searched the area but could not track him down. Police say the man may have sustained a cut on his face during the struggle and the Good Samaritan was not hurt.

The suspect is described as white, approximately 25 years of age, roughly six-feet tall, 210 lbs, with a medium build. He has light colour hair with a brush cut and goatee. He was wearing a waist-length, hooded jacket with strings on the collar.

Police say they are canvassing the area for video and witnesses and have spoken with investigators of the West End Prowler incidents. “At this time, police do not believe the incidents are related,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

Police are reminding residents to call 911 to report any suspicious activity and also be vigilant about locking doors and securing windows.
