Hamilton police investigate a possible drowning near Leander Boat Club

Hamilton police say they are investigating a possible drowning near the Leander Boat Club at 50 Leander Drive.

Staff Sgt. Paul Evans said they received a call around 6 a.m. this morning about a man who went for a swim but never resurfaced.

Hamilton police marine unit, paramedics and firefighters are on scene searching for the man who is believed to be in his 30’s.

“We’ve asked Niagara police to assist,” said Evans.

The area around the yacht club has been closed off.

Police say the public should anticipate a heavy presence by emergency services in the area and marine traffic will be affected today.
