Hamilton police have launched an investigation following a stabbing in the Hess Village entertainment district early Saturday morning.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Hess Street South and King Street West.
Police say an altercation happened outdoors, near the Lazy Flamingo, between a group of men.
During the fight, an 18-year-old man from Hamilton was stabbed in the head.
Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Oliver Mann said the teen was able to walk away from the area and get to a nearby Tim Hortons at King Street and Caroline Street.
The teen was rushed to a local trauma centre where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Forensic investigators were at the scene for several hours gathering clues.
It is unclear what type of weapon was used, what motivated the attack and exactly how many people are involved.
Mann said they are reviewing video surveillance from the area and asking witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.
