Hamilton police have identified two men they believe were involved in a violent attack last summer.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on July 5, 2017, police were called to the area of James St. North and Strachan St. East for reports of a robbery.

Police say a man was walking alone when he was attacked by a group of six to 10 people.

The victim was pushed, punched and kicked before being rendered unconscious. When the man awoke, he realized he had a serious stab wound and had been robbed.

Investigators have identified a suspect who was captured on a surveillance camera wearing a white shirt with a blue strap over his shoulder and another man on a bicycle.

Police are still trying to identify six other people believed to have been involved in the attack.

Anyone with information that could help police in this investigation is asked to contact Detective Constable Vlad Hluska at 905-546-3817.
