Hamilton police continue to investigate fatal Stoney Creek hit-and-run from 2011

Hamilton police are continuing their efforts to solve a decade-old fatal hit-and-run in Stoney Creek.

Hlias Kotsopoulos was out for a walk with his wife around 8:30 p.m. on Mar. 22, 2011.

Police say the pair were crossing Green Rd. on the south side of Barton St. E when they were struck by a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Green Rd.

Hlias Kotsopoulos was dragged by the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the driver, who was in a dark SUV-type vehicle, fled the area. The first letter of the licence plate was “B.”

The vehicle was never located.

Police continue to appeal to the public for any information.

“Hlias is deeply missed by his wife and family and they deserve answers,” said police in a news release.
