Hamilton police charge youth after finding him with loaded handgun

Hamilton police have placed a male youth under arrest Wednesday after discovering he had a fully loaded handgun and various drugs on him.

Officers say at around 2:50 p.m. they found a youth who was violating their court ordered release conditions at a store in the area of Wentworth and Main Streets.

They say the youth was ordered to remain in his home every day.

When officers placed the youth under arrest, they say during a search they found: a fully loaded handgun, 7 grams of fentanyl, 24 grams of crack cocaine, 46 grams of powder cocaine and a large amount of money they say is consistent to drug trafficking on them.

Investigators say the youth will now go before the courts for charges including possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a loaded prohibited firearm, and for breaching their probration.
