Hamilton police have charged a man and woman on a number of accounts following a shoplifting incident that turned into a car and foot pursuit and the recovery of a loaded gun a day later.

Police were called to Limeridge Mall on Nov. 3 after reports of “suspicious persons” in relation to shoplifting calls the day before.

Officers spotted a car that matched the description linked to the incident and attempted to stop it.

The female driver drove into a dead-end street where she forced to stop.

A male passenger then fled the car and officers started a foot chase.
