Hamilton police charge 2, seek another in violent pair of robberies

Hamilton police have charged a man and woman in connection with two separate robberies, one of which left two victims with life-altering injuries.

Investigators say the first incident happened around 9 p.m. on Feb. 11 when staff members were preparing to close a business in the area of South Service and Fifty roads.

The male suspect flashed a machete and employees were demanded to give an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects then ran away from the business with the money.

No one was injured during this robbery.

Police say the same two suspects demanded cigarettes and money from another business near Hess St. and King St. West around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 18. Two employees were assaulted with a machete and taser, causing serious life-altering injuries.

The man and woman fled the scene in a dark-coloured sedan.

On Feb. 25, Hamilton and Niagara police officers carried out a search warrant and arrested the two suspects.

Brandon Andres Omardeen, 33, has been charged with a series of offences, including four counts of robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.

Police have charged Monifa Chimmere Clarke, 39, of Niagara Falls with two counts of robbery.

Omardeen was wanted on a Canada-wide parole warrant and had his bail opposed.

Clarke has been released on an undertaking.

Investigators continue to search for a third suspect, who has been identified as 25-year-old Tanika Karen Galloway and is believed to be in the Toronto or Peel Region.
