Hamilton Police ask for more tasers

Hamilton’s Police Services Board is asking the city to spend close to a million dollars to buy another 150 tasers and train 579 officers on how to use the stun guns.
The request includes hiring two full time instructors who would train staff. In addition to the proposed $992,000 for the program, the proposal suggests an additional $635,000 would be needed each year to continue it.
The Police Services Board voted to approach city council with the idea and to get reaction from the community.
