Hamilton police arrest man after pedestrian struck in east Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested a 41-year-old Hamilton man after he allegedly hit a pedestrian Monday morning in Hamilton’s east end.

Officers say they responded to the area of Barton Street East and Prospect Street North after learning a pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle.

Police say the vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision, and left the pedestrian with serious injuries.

Detectives say the collision was allegedly intentional.

Police have charged the man with assault with a weapon, failing to stop after an accident causing bodily harm and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The police have not released the name of the driver or the victim.
