Hamilton Police arrest 21 in bid to tackle property crime

Hamilton Police have made 21 arrests as part of Project Day Break, a project created to deal with a small spike in property crimes.

Project Day Break was a city-wide initiative, aimed at reducing property crimes including break and enters and thefts.

Hamilton Police officers were deployed from various units across the service.

Over a four-week period, there were 21 arrests and 82 criminal charges, including 29 drug charges.

Six search warrants also resulted in the recovery of over $100,000 in stolen property and vehicles, $10,000 in cash along with 10 firearms and 7,600 rounds of ammunition.

Five people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
