Hamilton planning more asymptomatic COVID-19 testing at schools

More Hamilton schools will offer voluntary asymptomatic testing of students and staff.

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is working with Hamilton Public Health Services to administer the tests.

Saltfleet District High School will hold voluntary testing between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday. It’s open to students and staff of the school and those at:

• Billy Green Elementary School
• Janet Lee Elementary School
• Mount Albion Elementary School
• Gatestone Elementary School
• Tapleytown Elementary School
• Bellmoore Elementary School
• Shannen Koostachin Elementary School

Children and staff of child care and before and after-school programs are also eligible.

Registration must be done in advance here.

Public heath says the test for children will be different than for adults. It’s done in the mouth and the front of the nose.

Testing will also be offered at Orchard Park Secondary School on Mar. 5 and Bernie Custis Secondary School on Mar. 12.
