Hamilton mother and son seriously injured after being struck by vehicle

A mother and her son have been seriously injured after they were hit by a vehicle on Ottawa Street North near Dalhousie Avenue.

On July 10, at around 4:00 p.m., police say a 30-year-old Hamilton mother and her 10-year-old-son were struck by an out-of-control vehicle that had been traveling southbound on Ottawa Street North.

Police say the vehicle left the roadway, mounted the curb, and struck the mother and son as they were walking on the sidewalk. Both were transported to a hospital and police say the mother is expected to survive and her son has life-altering injuries.

The driver ran from the scene before police arrived. They were driving a black 2008 Chevy Equinox.
