An alleged Hamilton sex offender is back in police custody after turning himself in in Newfoundland.

John Jesso, 43, faces numerous sexual assault charges related to incidents involving minors. Hamilton Police alerted the public after he missed a July court appearance.

He fled to Newfoundland, but turned himself in to RCMP on Saturday after residents recognized him. Jesso will be returning to Hamilton for a court appearance.
