22-year-old man is dead after he was intentionally run down by a car in Stoney Creek

Police say a Hamilton man was deliberately run down by a car in a Stoney Creek parking lot Monday morning. 22-year-old Mario Rodgers died on the scene. 

Police were called to apartment complex on Barton St. and Covington in Stoney Creek around 4:00 a.m. 

Investigators say they are still looking into what the dispute was over and say the victim and the accused are known to each other.

24-year-old Junaid Nizami of Hamilton has been charged with second degree murder.

This is the city’s 18th homicide for 2021, a new record.

Hamilton Police are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and has been transported to hospital.
