Hamilton man faces charges in December collision that sent one woman to hospital: Hamilton Police

Hamilton Police say a 56-year old Hamilton man is facing charges of Careless driving causing bodily harm in connection to a multi-vehicle crash that hospitalized a Smithville woman with life-threatening injuries back in December.
On December 9th, An SUV travelling westbound on Cannon St. and pick-up truck travelling southbound on James St. N collided at the intersection just before 11 a.m.

The truck ended up mounting the curb, hitting a pedestrian on the sidewalk who was waiting to cross. It then hit another vehicle just south of the intersection.

Police say it’s detectives “determined the actions” of the 56-year old Hamilton man, who was operating a Hyundai SUV, allegedly caused the crash. He also faces a charge of operating an unsafe vehicle.

A 34-year old Niagara falls woman, who was driving a GMC truck, is also facing charges for making a false statement and operating an unsafe vehicle. The owner of the truck, also faces similar charges.

Police say the 34-year old woman remains in hospital and continues to recover from the injuries from the collision.
