Hamilton police have charged a 21-year-old man in connection with a life-threatening crash in April.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on April 29, a Hamilton man was driving a 2016 Volkswagen vehicle westbound on Hunter St. West towards Queen St. South. The driver then struck a fence and concrete blocks.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and portions of the concrete blocks fell onto the railway tracks below.

Officers said no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in this crash. The driver and two other passengers were sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the driver Tuesday following his release from the hospital. He was charged with two counts of impaired operation causing bodily harm. Officers said the Hamilton man is expected to appear in court on June 21.

The other two injured passengers have been released from the hospital and are recovering at home.
