A man’s facing several charges after a standoff with police in Hamilton’s Durand neighbourhood.

He refused to come out of his apartment last night when officers went to talk to him about a break-in. Police say he told them he had a gun. Officers closed off Herkimer Street between Bay and Caroline and surrounded his apartment.

Police negotiators with support from the Emergency Response Unit convinced him to surrender at around 10:00 p.m.

Gilles Morin, 53, faces break-in and mischief charges.
