Police charge Hamilton man with four counts of sexual assault

Police have charged a 43-year-old Hamilton man with four counts of sexual assault.

On October 19, police released a composite sketch of a suspect believed to have sexually assaulted a woman on Lawrence Rd. near Kenilworth Ave. in Hamilton.

After seeing the composite, three additional women came forward and identified the man as Jeffrey Alan Smallwood.

Each of the women reported being sexually assaulted by Smallwood between 1987 and 2010.

Hamilton Police have charged Smallwood with sexual assault, fail to comply probation, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual intercourse with a female under 14 years.

Smallwood is presently in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police believe there may be more victims who have had contact with Smallwood and are asking anyone with further information in relation to any sexual assault occurrences involving Smallwood contact Detective Andrew Toms at (905) 540-5545.
